Final programme for news:rewired – which is now sold out

It is just one week until news:rewired – digital stories, Journalism.co.uk’s conference on the latest innovations in digital journalism. The one-day event takes place at MSN UK in Victoria, London on Thursday 6 December.

There will be 37 speakers at the event, sharing case studies and tips on best practices, plus more than 150 delegates from news outlets and media organisations.

Sessions include: a keynote presentation on why news outlets should place data at the heart of the newsroom; how to best find conversations talking place on social media; and digital lessons and talking points of 2012.

There will also be practical sessions on mobile reporting, user experience, visual storytelling and long-form digital journalism, plus workshops on liveblogging, Twitter reporting and audio storytelling.

There will also be a lightning round of short presentations from journalism innovators.

A Wordle to show who is coming to news:rewired – digital stories

With most of the tickets for news:rewired – digital stories now sold, and just over two weeks to go until the digital journalism conference, we’ve produced a Wordle showing the representation of companies by delegates expected on the day.

You can also see a list of the speakers due to present on the day here, the agenda is viewable at this link, and a list of most of the delegates signed up to attend can be seen here.

Speakers include representatives of outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, Guardian US, The Irish Times, Google+, Financial Times, Channel 4 News, Future Publishing and Trinity Mirror.

Data journalism expert Nicolas Kayser-Bril to deliver news:rewired keynote

Nicolas Kayser-Bril, chief executive and co-founder of Journalism++ – which brings web technologies into journalistic workflows – will deliver the keynote speech at news:rewired – digital stories on Thursday 6 December.

Self-taught programmer and data-driven journalist Kayser-Bril was previously in charge of data journalism at OWNI, where he led several experiments in crowdsourced data gathering.

He will join the line up of more than 30 digital journalism experts also speaking at the one-day digital journalism conference, which aims to equip delegates with knowledge of the latest techniques and tools for producing top-notch digital journalism, as well as offering insight into some of the innovative projects evolving within today’s newsrooms, and outside of them.

Kayser-Bril will talk about how and why news outlets should place data at the heart of the newsroom, and draw on his experiences at Owni and Journalism++ to discuss the development of data journalism and opportunities for news outlets now and in the future.

With our news:rewired PLUS tickets delegates can attend both the news:rewired conference on the Thursday (6 December) as well as a day of intensive training on the Wednesday (5 December).

news:rewired PLUS tickets are just £310 (+VAT) and can be booked at this link.

If you select a news:rewired PLUS ticket when booking we will contact you to confirm which training course you would like to attend on the Wednesday and provide further details. Space on these training courses will be limited and running of them will be subject to demand.

On Thursday 6 December Journalism.co.uk will be running its next digital journalism conference, news:rewired – digital stories. One of the sessions planned for the day will look at site design, user experience and news readability, with speakers including Martin Belam, principal consultant, Emblem; Grig Davidovitz, co-founder, RGB Media; Kate Ortega, deputy graphics editor, The Wall Street Journal and Marc Downer, user experience consultant, Adido.

When we announced the first details for news:rewired – digital stories, we mentioned plans to run a lightning round of short presentations from innovators in the digital journalism space.

We’re now pleased to announce just some of the projects to be presented on the day across two planned lighting rounds, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, at the one-day conference on Thursday 6 December (see the agenda here).
